The role of our HR function is crucial in providing support to our teams, allowing them to focus on their vital work.

We are seeking an experienced HR Director to lead our newly formed Senior Civil Service (SCS) HR team. This team supports around 400 senior members of staff, covering the full recruitment lifecycle from workforce planning to exit interviews. As Deputy Director, you will shape the team's way of working and set them up as a critical enabling function for years to come.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for a skilled HR professional. You will be the link between senior colleagues and HR, requiring expert stakeholder engagement skills. Your team will be at the start of an exciting journey, with opportunities to build on established infrastructure and drive continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with senior civil servants, identifying opportunities for growth, and maintaining high standards. This role requires a courageous leader who encourages bold thinking and new ideas. You will also need to travel regularly to London and work from various locations listed.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HR Director with a strong background in senior-level recruitment and talent development. You should have excellent communication skills, be confident in sensitive conversations, and have a record of developing and motivating teams. MCIPD or FCIPD qualification is required. You will receive a competitive salary of £83,000 per annum, commensurate with your experience.
