Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Systems Training Manager to join our team at MSC Cruises S.A.

About the Role

The Head English position is responsible for managing all compliance training and audit environmental activities of the fleet, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to all applicable environmental rules and regulations and Company Policy.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Manage the Fleet Environmental Supervisors program, including scheduling, budgeting and reporting to achieve desirable outcomes.
  2. Collaborate with the new building and R&D teams to evaluate new technologies related to the vessel's environmental footprint and output, resulting in an enhancement to the environmental management plan.
  3. Manage the Company's ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 21070:2017 programs and support ISO 22000 by reference to the standard sections that include environmental program processes.
  4. Plan and manage internal environmental audits, ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulations and Company policies.
  5. Ensure proper implementation and execution of environmental procedures, manuals, record books, and other applicable environmental documentation.
  6. Oversee the environmental training program for Environmental Compliance Officers and senior management. Coordinate closely with the Head of Safety, D&E Training and MSC Academy for the scheduling and curriculum of training activities.
  7. Identify, establish, implement, and meet targets set for significant environmental aspects within the organization as well as conduct annual reviews which are recorded and communicated properly.
  8. Develop reports on findings, identify safeguards and establish metrics to demonstrate program effectiveness.
  9. Participate in all Environmental Department projects and collaborative projects involving other MSC Cruises departments.
  10. Coordinate with Environmental Operations Managers to ensure that present and future environmental legislation is assessed and applied appropriately throughout the fleet as needed.
  11. Coordinate and supervise the Ocean Cay Environmental & Social Management system, ensuring proper application of the program. Coordinate and administer the ISO 14001:2015 island program and ensure timely submission of the Monitoring Reports to cognizant organizations. Communicate with Ocean Cay's EHS Officer to ensure that internal and external audits are properly organized.
  12. Coordinate with Ocean Cay's EHS Officer for island training programs.
  13. Administer the Environmental portfolio standard operating procedures section 10.

Requirements

  1. Experience onboard cruise ships as either Environmental Officer, Deck Officer, or Engineer Officer preferred.
  2. Experience working in a land-based capacity within the Cruise Environmental sector is preferred.
  3. Environmental science university studies are desirable.
  4. Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Italian or other European languages is an advantage.
  5. Post-graduate specific studies in environmental is preferred.
  6. Ability to use Microsoft Office and other company-specific operating platforms and databases.
  7. Proven ability to lead, and contribute to a harmonious and productive team environment.
  8. Ability to understand and interpret various complex regulations and environmental matters.
  9. Ability to understand and interpret various financial matters affecting the Department.

Estimate Salary Range: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.
