About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Officer Track to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our Maintenance Engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans, and other instructions.

2. Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

3. Manage and check the quality of work delivered, confirming that assets meet the required standards.

4. Prepare work and resource specifications, method statements, and plans, ensuring effective project management.

5. Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.

6. Design, install, test, and commission equipment, ensuring it meets the required specifications and standards.

7. Undertake and supervise technical tasks, surveys, and design work, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

8. Conduct technical inspections, tests, investigations, and analysis of technical data, identifying areas for improvement.

9. Prioritize work arising and agree work plans for the group, ensuring effective resource allocation.

10. Prepare specifications and requisition materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Requirements

1. Knowledge of technical support activities and techniques, with a strong understanding of design requirements, processes, and techniques.

2. Ability to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviors within the team, ensuring a culture of safety and excellence.

3. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to coach, influence, and develop others.

4. Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post, with a strong understanding of business needs and requirements.

5. Ideally hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering or leadership subject.

6. Ability and willingness to drive vehicles as required by business need.
