Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Receptionist to join our team at West View Surgery. This is an essential front-line role where you will be the first point of contact for patients and other stakeholders, managing patient referrals, processing clinical documentation, and performing various administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage all general enquiries and provide an effective reception service to patients and visitors.
  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
  • Process personal, telephone, and e-requests for appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with callers' requests appropriately.
  • Signpost patients to the correct service.


About Us

West View Surgery is a small single-handed GP surgery located within a health centre in South Shields. We offer a friendly and flexible working environment with excellent conditions.

Person Specification

Essential Experience:
  • Experience of working in a GP surgery.
  • Administrative experience.
  • Experience of using EMIS Web and eRS.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Clear, polite telephone manner.
  • Effective time management (Planning & Organising).
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving & analytical skills.

Qualifications:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above).

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum.
