Software Engineer

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of web services that support our user and experiment programs.
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and deploying high-quality production services using Agile methodologies. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists who are using cutting-edge technologies to enable science at our facility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing software solutions using object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C#, or similar
- Working with relational databases and SQL to design and implement data storage and retrieval systems
- Collaborating with the team to identify and prioritize project requirements and deliverables
- Participating in code reviews and ensuring adherence to software engineering principles and best practices
- Providing technical support and maintenance for existing software systems
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year
- Able to commence employment in summer 2024
- A strong academic background with very good module grades at university so far
- A good understanding of object-oriented programming and relational database theory
- An awareness of software engineering principles and best practices
