We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technical Expert to join our team at Deerns, a leading independent mechanical and electrical engineering consultancy firm. Our team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for data centre projects across the UK, Mainland Europe, India, and the Middle East.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with expertise in critical cooling, ventilation, and fuel systems. They will be responsible for providing technical leadership on Deerns UK projects and guiding strategic direction for mechanical systems proposals across all projects within our business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver high-quality mechanical services and associated controls for data centre projects.
  • Develop concept and detailed designs of mechanical systems, including schematics, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and reports.
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines and ensure compliance with industry and legal standards.
  • Monitor the quality of contractor's mechanical installations and ensure they meet client requirements and local standards.
  • Carry out technical reviews of contractor's technical submissions, working drawings, and samples.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered engineer with IET or CIBSE or equivalent UK body.
  • Extensive experience as a project lead and technical authority within the data centre construction design industry.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of data centre specific terminology, typical design practices, and related options available based on client requirements.
