We are seeking a motivated consultant to join our team as a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a sub-specialty interest in Medical Retina. This is an important post within the department, and we are looking for an innovative and committed colleague who is keen to work with the wider team to develop the service at The Royal London Hospital.

  • Consultants' lists are set at between 6/9 patients per session for standard new/follow-up, and a maximum of 12 injection patients per session, supported by 2 MR injection nurses. The consultant will also oversee/support the junior doctors and optometrist's clinic profiles.
  • To be involved in the strategic planning and development of the Medical Retina service at RLH.
  • To have responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of their departments. The post-holder will participate in the three-tier RLH on-call rota (1 in 7) as the third tier, non-resident consultant support.
  • To assume responsibility both singularly and corporately for the management of the junior medical staff.
