Job Title: Handyperson/Escort

Location: HMP Coldingley

Rate: £16

Duration: Temporary role, with the opportunity to be long term

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 17:00

As a Handyperson/Escort, you will be part of a security team responsible for escorting and overseeing contractors, such as carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, while they complete maintenance work or perform basic maintenance within the prison estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escort contractors to ensure their safety and the safety of others
  • Verify identification and conduct searches of visitors
  • Operate radio equipment to maintain communication with colleagues
  • Perform routine administrative tasks
  • Conduct tool checks on contractors
  • Search buildings to ensure they are secure
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks

About You:

  • Previous experience in handy work, particularly in plumbing, is essential
  • Previous experience in a similar role or background is desirable
  • You must be safety-conscious and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • You must have been living in the UK for at least 3 years

Due to the nature of the environment, you will be required to undergo standard security vetting for the establishment.
