Job Summary

The Diabetes Nurse Specialist will provide expert advice and support regarding the clinical management of patients with diabetes in secondary care areas.

Main Responsibilities
  • Pro-actively promote and support Think Glucose across secondary care areas.
  • Provide clinical assessment and appropriate management strategies for patients, including lifestyle choices, oral hypoglycaemic agents, insulin, and GLP1, and blood glucose monitoring support.
  • Actively engage in structured education programmes for people with diabetes.
  • Actively engage in training staff in diabetes management.
About the Role

The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility and where appropriate, patient support groups, research, clinical audit, and service evaluation.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered General nurse with a BSc in adult nursing.
  • Post registration clinical experience in diabetes care.
  • Experience in teaching others in the clinical role.
