Job Summary:
Serco Maritime is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Seafarer Deck Rating. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist vessel crew in deck operations and learn the practical application of knowledge, skills, and behaviours gained during college phases.
- Perform watchkeeping duties during day or night shifts, including keeping a lookout on a sea passage.
- Conduct routine maintenance of the vessel and its equipment.
- Maintain own safety and security and that of others, the vessel, and its equipment.
- Learn and operate mooring winches, windlass, cranes, watertight doors, lifesaving, and firefighting appliances.
- Successfully complete all training as required by the Able Seafarer Deck Apprentice Standard.
- Obtain the required sea service in the allocated time period.
Requirements:
- Eligible for a UK passport.
- Capable of obtaining an ENG1 Unrestricted Medical Certificate, including eyesight examination.
- Academic qualifications: preferred A-level Mathematics or equivalent T-level.
- Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and Physical Based Science or equivalent qualifications from Scotland or Northern Ireland.
