Job Description

Keltbray is seeking a highly skilled Principal Design Engineer to join their team in Preston Brook, Runcorn.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the design process for electrification projects, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and meeting agreed programs and budgets.
  • Undertake system, basic, allocation, and construction design of railway electrification in accordance with international, national, railway group, and network rail company standards.
  • Ensure the application of company design assurance to all allocated projects.
  • Assist in determining design scope and preparing valuation of design elements for tendering purposes.
  • Conduct site surveys and lead the team in producing design calculations and drawings.
  • Maintain coordination of feasibility studies, outline, and detailed design proposals.
  • Approve the work of design engineers and CAD technicians.
  • Manage the interfacing of design teams with construction and commissioning teams for allocated projects.
  • Assist in maintaining design procedures to ensure compliance with quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Application of and compliance to engineering assurance processes and requirements.
  • General overall competence in design.
  • Able to demonstrate meeting performance and knowledge requirements.
  • Knowledge of OLE design range applicable to current projects.
  • Sound understanding of Network Rail's requirements regarding risk assessment processes.
  • Experience in commercial and design processes.
