Youth Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Barnardo's Scotland. This permanent role is subject to funding until March 2026, with possible extension.
In this position, you will work alongside colleagues who are passionate about protecting children and young people from abuse through exploitation. Your primary focus will be on providing one-to-one person-centred support to young people who are vulnerable to exploitation.
About the RoleAs a Youth Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Protecting children and young people from child exploitation;
- Providing bespoke packages of emotional and practical support to young people in response to identified needs;
- Empowering survivors of exploitation to develop strategies that support their recovery and manage risk;
- Reducing the risk to vulnerable children and young people by providing training and awareness-raising to professionals, parents/carers, and young people themselves.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure a trauma-informed and person-centred approach to supporting young people;
- Developing and delivering tailored support packages to meet the unique needs of each young person;
- Collaborating with professionals, parents/carers, and young people to reduce the risk of exploitation and promote recovery;
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to ongoing evaluation and improvement of services.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of child protection and exploitation issues;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and person-centred approaches;
- A relevant qualification or experience in a related field.
This role offers a competitive salary of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including pension scheme, annual leave, and professional development opportunities.
