About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join our Children's Services team at the Isle of Wight Council. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective and timely implementation of child protection and care planning, while also promoting the voice of the child throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chair statutory reviews for children in care and lead Child Protection Conferences
  • Ensure plans are SMART, monitor progress, and provide quality assurance to children and the service
  • Work in partnership with children, families, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of current safeguarding legislation and guidance
Requirements
  • Registered Social Worker with the Social Work England
  • At least 5 years post-qualifying experience in safeguarding and work with looked-after children
  • Excellent chairing skills, with the ability to manage complex dynamics sensitively and consistently
  • Good knowledge of Care Planning and Reviewing regulations, as well as the IRO Handbook

Relocation Support

We offer a relocation scheme of up to £8,000 for candidates relocating to the Isle of Wight to work with us. We also provide reimbursement for travel costs for those commuting daily.
