Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Regulatory Risk and Compliance to join our team at Dentons. As a key member of our Office of the General Counsel, you will play a vital role in providing commercial and pragmatic advice to support the achievement of our firm's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage claims, day-to-day compliance issues, and sensitive investigations independently and in conjunction with the Deputy General Counsels.
  • Lead the enterprise risk management process across the region, developing and implementing risk control systems, and designing and rolling out a risk and compliance culture program.
  • Understand, evaluate, and drive compliance, risk, and operational culture improvements across the region, including regular travel between offices.
  • Prepare management and board compliance and risk reports quarterly in collaboration with the General Counsel.
  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee practice audits, and review complex AML and conflict matters and processes in conjunction with the Global Head of AML and Global Co-Heads of Conflicts.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working in risk and compliance, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and implement change in an in-house legal role.
  • A can-do attitude, with a passion for providing innovative and effective solutions to problems.
  • Proactive self-starter, able to work and make decisions independently while being a team player.
  • Confident in handling a broad range of legal matters, with both legal expertise and commercial pragmatism.
  • Enthusiastic, can-do lawyer with a passion for their work and willing to go the extra mile.
  • Strong expertise in general commercial contractual work.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to deliver quality, commercial solutions under pressure.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence across all levels within the business.
