About the Role:

The Clinical Practitioner will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team at Kemple View, a 90-bedded hospital providing treatment and care for male patients with mental illness and/or personality disorder. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting both nursing and social work duties, working collaboratively with patients, families, and colleagues to promote excellent standards of patient care.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Nursing:
    • Act as the Nurse in Charge of the Ward, supervising a defined group of Nursing or HCA colleagues, and ensuring they receive management and clinical supervision.
    • Prioritize nursing duties, delegate appropriately, and effectively work as nurse in charge as required, ensuring a safe environment.
    • Recognize and respond appropriately to challenging behavior, supporting junior staff in managing difficult situations and developing resilience and strategies to manage.
    • Monitor, evaluate, and report on patient care outcomes, working with complex patients and providing support to MDTs.
    • Adhere to Company Medicines Management policies and Priory Group policies and protocols.
  • Social Work:
    • Provide accurate information about care in an accessible format to patients/service users and their families.
    • Ensure an accurate, holistic, and up-to-date social history is available for each patient, offering formulations and recommendations.
    • Initiate visits, maintain contact with patient's families and/or significant others, offering support, information, and joint family and patient sessions where relevant.
    • Carry out focused casework with individual patients and their families using a range of interventions under supervision.
    • Lead and coordinate the process of section 117 Mental Health Act aftercare plans with the MDT and relevant community agencies.
