Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dental Contract Officer to join our team at NHS Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of dental contracts, working closely with stakeholders and professionals to support the delivery of high-quality dental services.

Main Duties

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Managing contractor requests for variations in line with national policy and local governance processes.
  2. Drafting formal notices and correspondence in line with contractual matters.
  3. Producing reports based on available data, reviewing and comparing performance and contract delivery.
  4. Investigating and responding to patient queries.
  5. Supporting the identification and sharing of best practice to support service improvement.
  6. Supporting the commissioning of projects, expressions of interest and procurement of services to support project delivery, acting in accordance with Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instruction.
  7. Ensuring value for money and greater efficiency in the use of budgets, and operating in recurrent financial balance year on year.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess a post-graduate degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent level qualification, with significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area. They will also have further training or significant experience in project management, financial management or supporting change management processes.

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills, capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences. They will also have attention to detail combined with the ability to extract key messages from complex analysis, and be able to work on own initiative, organizing and prioritizing own and others workloads to changing and often tight deadlines.
