Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Legal Counsel to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a crucial role in supporting our business with commercial law expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Review and Drafting: Review and draft general commercial contracts, including NDAs, master service agreements, and terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Statutory Compliance: Support the business with key areas of statutory compliance, including anti-bribery, modern slavery, data protection, and export control, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Training: Conduct training sessions on compliance issues, such as anti-bribery, data protection, and confidentiality, tailored to specific business and HR requirements, ensuring teams are informed on relevant legislation changes and implications.
  • Special Projects: Support special acquisitions, strategic projects, and corporate-related matters, working closely with the European legal team to identify and address regional issues.
  • Policy Development: Assist in developing and overseeing the implementation of legal policies and support for compliance initiatives across all research centers in the UK.

Requirements:

  • UK qualified solicitor or barrister with 2+ PQE
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial law, contracts, and related areas of statutory compliance, intellectual property, and data privacy issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
