Staff Nurse

As a Staff Nurse at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care on our busy Oak ward. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and facilitate patients attending for day surgery, ensuring seamless communication with the play team, bookings, theatres, anaesthetists, surgeons, and recovery teams.
Clinical Responsibilities:- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs, ensuring safe practice and maintaining high standards of care.
- Act as an effective role model, demonstrating organisational and leadership skills, and participating in quality initiatives and targets.
- Deputise for the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and their deputies, ensuring continuity of care and effective leadership.
- Ensure nursing staff and/or students under your supervision have a clear understanding of their duties and responsibilities.
- Assist in the orientation and induction of new staff, ensuring a smooth transition into the team.
- Understand and be aware of when and how to report untoward incidents, accidents, concerns, or near misses.
- Work with team members to maintain a clean and safe environment, promoting therapeutic and ethical practice.
- Identify potential risks for all staff, patients, and visitors, taking action as required, and adhering to relevant incident reporting procedures.
- Act as an advocate for patients and their families, providing information and directing them to relevant support services.
- Respect people's dignity, wishes, and beliefs, involving them in shared decision-making and obtaining their consent before undertaking nursing procedures.
