Automation and Yield Control Expert

KLA is a leading provider of high-tech capital equipment for the semiconductor industry. We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer to join our team in Newport, South Wales. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with innovative technology, learn precision automated manufacturing processes, and contribute to the development of high-quality products.
Main Responsibilities:
As a Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining tooling and equipment by arranging calibration, safety checks, and regular control.
- Releasing and controlling working instructions, part specifications, and BOM.
- Assisting and signing off assemblers.
- Resolving incoming material issues.
- Analyzing customer returns (RMA), defining root cause, and implementing preventive actions.
- Introducing new variants or processed to the production line.
- Resolving issues with products built on the manufacturing floor.
- Interacting with suppliers regarding turnkey items' quality and issues.
- Interacting with the Engineering team to ensure a smooth transition of new products from Engineering to Manufacturing.
Requirements:
- Degree in Physics, Materials, Mechanical, or Electronics, or equivalent experience.
- Experience controlling die attach, wire bond, soldering, or mechanical assembly processes.
- Developing or updating working instructions and BOM.
- Sourcing tooling, equipment, and parts for manufacturing.
- Established process control and data tracking.
- Yield data analysis and reporting.
- Quality improvement leadership in production lines.
- Exposure to quality control systems.
- High-volume manufacturing environment experience, preferably in the semiconductor industry.
