Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the feedback from black and ethnic communities within Brighton and Hove.
  • Act as a 'critical friend' in all aspects of interactions between police and local communities, advising on issues affecting the whole organisation, including policy and procedure, operational practice, and planning.
  • Advise on a variety of policing issues, including raising awareness of concerns or community tensions, providing critical analysis of policing policy and practice, and driving improvements in public confidence and service across all communities.

  • Have good community networks and be willing to voice concerns to Sussex Police.
Why Volunteer with Us?

We take pride in looking after our volunteers, offering opportunities to experience policing firsthand, meet new people and teams, learn and develop skills, and support your local community. As a police support volunteer, you will have access to financial and mental well-being guidance and support, discounts for everyday spend, our on-site gyms, and a range of sports clubs. Volunteering with us will also allow you to apply for other voluntary and paid positions within the Force.

Diversity Statement:

We are committed to being an anti-racist police service, challenging injustice, ensuring fairness, and upholding anti-racist principles in both our organisation and communities. We value the differences that people bring from all backgrounds and communities, regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, disability, social status, or religious belief. We would love to hear from you.
