Job Purpose

EnerSys Delaware Inc. is seeking a highly skilled CABC Project Manager to join our team in the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire. As a key member of our space business, you will be responsible for the technical assessment of customer requirements and identifying compliant EnerSys ABSL product solutions or development activities.

The successful candidate will provide technical assessment, analysis, data review, and technical documentation for specified projects, as well as technical assistance to customers in conjunction with Sales Team colleagues. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure on-time and on-quality delivery of documentations, statements of compliance, and technical briefings to the customer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop battery solutions for space applications and translate requirements to EnerSys ABSL product lines or development activities.
  • Write technical volumes that form part of a wider proposal.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to solve complex engineering challenges that enable the progression of opportunities into EnerSys ABSL.
  • Specify battery components, such as heaters.
  • Generate and complete statements of compliance.
  • Produce reports and presentations for the progression of opportunities through the proposal gate process.
  • Verify project hardware from test data and correlate to predicted performance.
  • Produce project documentation, including analysis reports, battery user manuals, test plans, and test reports.
  • Contribute to project handover from the bid team to operations/delivery teams.
  • Communicate technical matters to customers.
  • Support proposals by providing technical inputs.
  • Support inputs to technical papers and presentations.
  • Support department-level process management documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement in the department.
Requirements
  • A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent qualification.
  • Good level of IT skills for data analysis, modeling, results presentation, and reporting.
  • Experience with test and verification activities.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working with space industry primes, agencies, and end users.
    • Experience in mechanical design and analysis, thermal design and analysis, Li-ion battery performance, reliability and failure modes, vibration/shock testing.
    • Knowledge and understanding of ECSS standards.
Skills and Competencies
  • Attention to detail and ability to examine and present data clearly.
  • Strong understanding of product verification and requirement management, including experience with test and verification activities and reporting.
  • Ability to work in a multi-project environment, effectively prioritizing and working to detailed scheduled plans and tight deadlines.
  • Core skills relating to battery design: cell and battery electrical performance, battery safety requirements, mechanical and thermal design and analysis, basic electrical analysis.
  • Enthusiasm for problem-solving and delivering solutions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and work to detailed scheduled plans and to tight deadlines.
  • Business-minded and process-driven.
  • Innovative thinker and pragmatic problem solver, working well in a fluid situation and under pressure.
  • Strong skills with MS Office/Office 365 suite of programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
