About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Transfusion team at Barnet Hospital as a Senior Biomedical Scientist/Training Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality Blood Transfusion service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of scientific and support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
  • Participate in all areas of laboratory bench work, adhering to standard operating procedures and contributing to their regular review and update.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and timely results and information.
  • Interpret complex scientific data and enter test results on the pathology computer system.
  • Ensure the department meets all standards required by accreditation bodies and participate in the regular review of all procedures performed in the laboratory.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent qualification.
  • Participation in a relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in pathology relevant to the role.
  • Previous experience in a relevant Blood Transfusion laboratory and proficiency in techniques appropriate to the discipline.
