Job Description

As a RAF Police Officer, you will play a critical role in enabling airpower operations both in the UK and globally. You will be responsible for providing a broad spectrum of Security and Law enforcement capabilities, including criminal and security investigations, counter intelligence, and protective security activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct security activities, including cyber and Information security, counter-intelligence, security risk management, and airport security
  • Perform operational threat assessments and provide advice
  • Manage personnel security, including security education, vetting, and screening
  • Conduct investigations, including digital forensics, crime scene examination, criminal intelligence, child support, and domestic violence support, and surveillance
  • Participate in RAF police dog handling duties, including protection dogs and detection dogs
Requirements
  • Have a minimum of GCSE at Grade C/4-5 or Scottish National 5 at grade C in English Language
  • Be aged 17.5 – 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Be a UK citizen or holder of dual UK/other nationality
  • Commit minimum 3 years post Phase Two Training
  • Meet the health and fitness criteria
Training and Career

You will undergo Basic Recruit Training at RAF Halton, followed by Specialist Training at MOD Southwick. You will also have opportunities to attend different courses in areas such as protective security, counter intelligence, cyber security, close protection, and criminal investigation.

What's Next?

After completing your training, you will be assigned to a RAF Unit, where you will work on law enforcement and aviation security duties, or as a dog handler. You will have opportunities to travel and operate overseas, and to develop your skills and knowledge in your role.
