Job Description

Job Title: RAF Police Officer - Security and Policing Specialist

Job Summary:

The Royal Air Force (RAF) is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as RAF Police Officers. As a RAF Police Officer, you will be responsible for providing security and policing services to the RAF, ensuring the safety and security of personnel, assets, and information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide security and policing services to the RAF, including asset protection, personnel security, and information security.
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence to support the prosecution of crimes.
  • Provide risk management and security advice to senior officers and other stakeholders.
  • Assess and mitigate security risks to RAF personnel, assets, and information.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and military units to share intelligence and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Be a citizen of the United Kingdom since birth.
  • Have resided in the UK for at least 7 years immediately preceding application.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Commit to a minimum of 12 years of service.
  • Pass a fitness test.

Education and Qualifications:

  • GCSEs at Grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 at Grade C in English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects.
  • At least two A2 Levels or three Highers at Grade C or above (excluding General Studies, Critical Thinking, and Citizenship Studies) which must total a minimum of 64 UCAS points.
  • Alternatively, hold a UK degree at Grade 2:2 or higher (or acceptable alternative) and meet the minimum GCSE requirements.

Training and Development:

As a RAF Police Officer, you will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. You will undergo Initial Officer Training (IOT) at the RAF College Cranwell, followed by specialist training at the Defence School of Policing and Guarding, MOD Southwick Park.

Career Prospects:

As a RAF Police Officer, you will have opportunities for career progression and advancement. You may be selected for promotion to Flight Lieutenant after 31⁄2 years from completing IOT, and further promotion to Squadron Leader and above is by competitive selection.

Transferrable Skills:

As a RAF Police Officer, you will develop skills and experience that are transferable to other careers, including emergency planning, security risk management, and management consultancy.
