About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Galliford Try. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective control solutions for projects that meet customer needs while adhering to relevant legislation and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, specify, implement, and test control solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Support the Sales Department in developing robust and cost-effective control solutions.
  • Proactively identify alternative materials and scope change opportunities to optimize project outcomes.
  • Attend design reviews and submit designs for approval.
  • Commission control solutions on site and conduct SAT testing.
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure positive feedback and establish technical patterns for future reference.
  • Assist in internal process development and identify waste/non-value-added activities.
  • Support the Engineering Team during holidays and sickness.
About You
  • Relevant experience in electrical design (hardware) relating to MCC, Switchgear, Control Panel, and LV Distribution/Electrical Installations.
  • Competence in working in a Systems Integration Environment and collaborating with Software Engineers.
  • Specification, design, installation, and commissioning of equipment with internal and/or external resources.
  • Qualification to the 18th Edition of BS wiring regulations.
  • Experience in producing complex electrical schematics, general arrangement drawings, and BOM.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience working as part of a team and interfacing directly with customers.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Databases.
  • Technical Report writing ability.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience within the Water & Wastewater Sector.
  • Experience in Industrial Automation.
  • Knowledge of Profibus, Profinet, and Ethernet Topologies.
  • Demonstrable track record of contract management, client/contractor disputes, and project team coordination.
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering cost-effective control solutions in Utility industries, Food, FMCG, Automotive, or Materials Handling.
Essential Attainments
  • HNC/ONC in Electrical/Systems/Software engineering plus 2 years' experience in electrical installation or maintenance.
  • Degree qualification in Electrical Systems Engineering Discipline plus 2 years' postgraduate experience in Utility industries or Food, FMCG, Automotive, or Materials Handling.
