Job Title: Part Time Shift Leader

SCS Railways is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part Time Shift Leader to join our team. As a key member of our tunneling operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of tunneling works on site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic guidance to the project team based on your knowledge and experience of similar projects.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, and advise the Sub Agents accordingly.
  • Work closely with the Site Engineers to ensure that all setting-out and quality control procedures are performed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with works managers, foremen, gangers, operatives, and sub-contractors to ensure a clear understanding of information provided.
  • Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements, Plans and Procedures for the construction works.
  • Collaborate with the construction and quality teams to complete Inspection and Test Plans for the control of the works.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works.
  • Keep a detailed and accurate daily site diary, including changes, variations, subcontractors' attendance, and work-related discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements.
Requirements:
  • Experience working as a shift manager in a tunnelling environment.
  • IOSH or SMSTS desired, SSSTS minimum.
  • Tunnel Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) certification.
