Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical and CNC Engineer to join our client's team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous running of production machines by minimising downtime during day-to-day operations, performing PPM's fault finding and repair.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintenance and Repair

Provide a right first-time maintenance service to promote high-quality products and services.

Equipment Maintenance

Maintain plant and equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.

Spare Parts Management

Identify spare parts to effect repairs using machine manufacturer's manuals and order through stores.

Quality and Safety

Maintain engineering standards and records in accordance with ISO 9001 and 9002.

Issue Resolution

Follow up on outstanding issues to a successful conclusion.

Inspections and Reporting

Carry out weekly detailed inspections, maintain logs, and defect report sheets.

Efficiency Improvement

Maintain and improve plant efficiency through planned PPMs of production machines.

Reporting and Communication

Complete detailed maintenance reports using a computer-based maintenance package.

Health and Safety

Report any dangerous occurrences or unsafe machine conditions.

Safety Audits

Carry out SUSA discussions and monthly internal safety audits.

Requirements

  1. Education and Qualifications

Mechanical engineering apprenticeship (HNC/HND are desirable).

Professional Certifications

IOSH/NEBOSH.

Operational Skills

FLT/cherry picker if you don't have a licence, willing to be put through your licence.

Additional Skills

Welding.

First Aid

Two years minimum experience in an FMCG production environment.

Technical Knowledge

Experience with steam systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PPM/TPM maintenance operations.

  1. Salary and Benefits

Salary of £46,716.

Shift Pattern and Working Hours

Current shift pattern is a 12-hour shift working across days and night, on a 36-hour working week.

Generous production bonus paid monthly or yearly after the probation period.

Opportunity of a £650 'Sign on Bonus' within the first 6 months.
