The NHS is seeking a skilled Clinical Coder to join our busy Clinical Coding department. The successful applicant will have excellent analytical skills, with a strong understanding of medical records contents and medical terminology.

About the Role

This complex role requires abstracting and analysing complex clinical information from patient health records, including electronic discharge summaries, nursing notes, and diagnostic tests. You will work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure accurate data is collected and maintained, using your knowledge of ICD10 and OPCS 4 classifications.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around £28,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful applicant will also have access to extensive training and development opportunities, including paid mandatory training and professional career pathways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assign clinical codes using ICD10 and OPCS 4 classifications
  • Analyse complex clinical information from patient health records
  • Provide guidance and support to trainee coders as needed
Requirements
  • Educated to GCSE Level Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Attainment of National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ)
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably in clinical coding
