About the Role

Siemens Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in the UK. As a Principal Mechanical Designer/Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of industrial gas turbines.

In this critical role, you will engage in a variety of tasks, including design, coordination, and problem-solving activities. You will work closely with a team of experts, including fluid systems, controls, and electrical engineers, to deliver exceptional results that align with our vision of building a smarter world for tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the latest systems and technologies to enhance the performance and reliability of our products.
  • Provide technical interface with internal departments, regional divisions, suppliers, and customers to ensure project upgrades are executed within allocated budgets and timescales.
  • Standardise and document solutions that can be applied in a consistent manner.
  • Manage obsolescence by identifying and sourcing replacements for individual components and/or systems to maintain the functionality of our equipment.
  • Implement package upgrades aimed at preventing future issues, enhancing the overall product lifecycle.
  • Address and rectify issues in the field by analysing fault reports and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain CAD models, layouts, and detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX software.
  • Generate and lead BOMs, including part creation and lifecycle management within Siemens PLM.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering documentation, such as purchase specifications for equipment and components.
  • Produce design calculations and technical reports as required.
Requirements
  • A minimum of HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in a related engineering field.
  • Several years of experience in a design and CAD NX role within an associated or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in both Siemens NX and Siemens PLM software with knowledge of piping design in relation to Gas/Steam Turbine and/or Gas Compression auxiliary packaged systems.
  • A fundamental understanding of mechanical design with practical experience in its application.
  • Exceptional communication and coordination abilities, with experience in SAP and MS Office Suite.
