Senior Community Mental Health Practitioner

This is a challenging role within a busy mental health service. We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Community Mental Health Practitioner.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs. This will involve developing care plans, delivering evidence-based interventions, and managing risks in the community.
As a key member of the team, you will also be expected to contribute to the learning and development of junior team members, and take on leadership activities as required.
About the RoleThis is a demanding role that requires a high level of clinical confidence and the ability to work effectively in a multi-professional context. You will be expected to work collaboratively with service users, carers, advocates, and other agencies to provide high-quality care and support.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. You will also have experience of risk management, care coordination, and managing a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who meets the following criteria:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist
- Currently registered with a professional body
- Knowledge of a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions
- Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge and practice of the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Minimum of 18 months post-registered experience
- Experience of risk management, care coordination, and managing a caseload of clients with complex mental health needs
We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including a £7,000 welcome bonus package. This package is designed to attract and retain the best staff in post and includes a payment schedule of £3,000 after 2 months, £2,000 after 12 months, and £2,000 after 24 months.
We also offer a range of training and development opportunities, including clinical supervision, management supervision, team/peer support, and internal and external training opportunities.
Our service is based at Duddon House, Fairfield Lane, Barrow, and is operational between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Flexible working can be considered.
