About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Hepatobiliary Consultant to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Liver Unit, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our patients and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake paediatric liver, bowel, renal, and multi-visceral transplants and related activities.
  • Conduct paediatric HPB surgery and develop skills under the supervision of senior colleagues.
  • Participate in the renal transplant programme or train in post to acquire sufficient skills to be autonomous within 2 years of appointment.
  • Work closely with the organ procurement team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of Normothermic Regional Perfusion organ procurement and living donor programmes.

Requirements
  • GMC Registration / Eligible for inclusion on Specialist Register as Paediatric Surgeon.
  • FRCS or equivalent by examination.
  • Experience in Paediatric transplant surgery, including liver splitting & reduction and multi-organ retrieval and management of complications.
  • Experience in Small Bowel Transplantation.
  • Experience in Paediatric hepatobiliary surgery.
  • Experience in research, publications, and audit.
