Pirelli is a global leader in the tyre manufacturing industry, seeking a talented individual to join its Engineering department in the UK. As a Placement Engineer, you will be responsible for working in a fast-paced industrial environment, collaborating with a team to ensure the quality and efficiency of rubber compound, textile, and metallic fabric components.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to project engineering teams to plan and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in breakdown analysis and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement projects.
  • Assist the Maintenance and Engineering Department in a factory environment, interacting with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC control/automation, and steam and water tempering systems.
  • Take ownership of work-related projects, working closely with the Project Team for support and guidance.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including production managers, engineering managers, workshop engineering supervisors, project managers, and purchasing department personnel.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure seamless collaboration.

A Typical Day in the Role:

  • Review and interpret technical drawings to inform decision-making.
  • Raise purchase requests, monitor OEE, and record relevant details.
  • Electronically file accurate material documentation, including project and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team to support projects from design through to commissioning.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture within the team.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients on technical and commercial matters.
  • Establish priorities in the workflow, ensuring effective communication with workshop and technical staff.
  • Support the Engineering Manager as needed.

Requirements:

  • Studying to degree level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and good keyboard skills.
  • CAD user skills, preferably with Autocad LT and Solidworks.
  • Strong organisational skills and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Ability to translate knowledge and skills into practical investigation and problem-solving.
  • A full clean driving licence is desirable, given the potential need to visit the Carlisle site.
