Carbon Emissions Reduction Engineer

Estimated salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum

About the Job

We are seeking an experienced Carbon Emissions Reduction Engineer to join our team at The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges. In this role, you will be responsible for reducing carbon emissions and operational costs across our estate.

You will work closely with the Head of Sustainability to plan and deliver changes to building services systems, including controls changes, metering, heating and ventilation systems. You will also work with wider estates staff to identify fabric and lighting improvements, costing, and prioritizing these measures, building by building.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop costed business cases for energy efficiency improvements, working with capital projects and procurement in the preparation of documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review and evaluate building services operation and performance to identify areas for improvement.
  2. Implement recommissioning of building services to enable efficient operation leading to improved user experience, carbon, and cost savings.
  3. Develop costed business cases for energy efficiency improvements.
  4. Work with wider estates staff to identify fabric and lighting improvements, costing, and prioritizing these measures, building by building.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, such as mechanical engineering or sustainable development.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of building services systems and energy efficiency measures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
