About the Role

Gen Re is seeking a highly skilled Senior Casualty Underwriter to join our London Treaty team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for risk assessment and underwriting in the Casualty sector, including Public and Product Liability, Employers Liability and Financial Lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and accept Casualty treaties, including premium calculation and deciding on terms and conditions in accordance with underwriting guidelines, internal directives, targets and client strategies.
  • Conduct negotiations and support in maintaining relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Service client accounts and tap new business potential.
  • Responsibility for the administration of contracts assigned, including exposure monitoring and liability/accumulation assessment.
  • Perform result and portfolio analysis and prepare line of business reports.
  • Develop and implement a strategy for the London Casualty Treaty book; participate in planning and controlling activities.
  • Assume special tasks, participate/support local and group-wide international working groups and projects; participate in reviews, training of staff; contribute to market events.
Requirements
  • University degree in an economic, scientific (mathematics/statistics) or law-related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Casualty insurance and knowledge of reinsurance.
  • Highly conversant with IT systems, proficiency with relevant underwriting and rating tools/risk modelling.
  • Great team-worker, business developer, negotiator and communicator.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit, proactivity and ability to work under pressure and with a multitasking approach.
  • The position will be based in London but availability to travel is required.
