Kent County Council is seeking an experienced Public Committee Clerk Specialist to join our Democratic Services team.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in facilitating local democracy, ensuring statutory and constitutional requirements are met, and providing governance advice to Members and Officers across the council.

This is an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development, including the option of undertaking qualifications provided by the Association of Democratic Services Officers.

We are looking for someone with a sound understanding of local government, confidence in dealing with elected members and senior officers, and experience of committee clerking and office administration.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.

The salary for this role is approximately £25,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a hybrid working model with some days in the office and some days working from home.

The role requires full support for induction, management, and equipment. You will need to come into Sessions House, Maidstone, to clerk Committee meetings as and when required, and there may also be occasions where you need to travel to external meetings.
