Job Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Senior Environmental Hygiene Specialist to ensure the production facility and potwash hygiene quality is maintained, adhering to Food Safety and H&S standards at all times. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements and be able to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Hygiene Standards Compliance:

  • Ensure that all production areas meet company hygiene standards and comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of production equipment and facilities to identify hygiene risks.
  • Ensure that all related paperwork is thoroughly and accurately completed in line with the company procedures and policies.

Cleaning and Sanitation Protocols:

  • Develop and implement daily cleaning schedules for production areas, ensuring regular and thorough cleaning of machinery, tools, and workspaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness of processing equipment and production areas at the required standards and within SOPs.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Perform daily hygiene audits and inspections, recording and reporting any hygiene breaches or potential hazards.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities for auditing and quality assurance purposes.
  • Prepare and present hygiene performance reports to management, recommending improvements where necessary.
  • Update staff regularly on any changes to hygiene standards, procedures, or regulations.

Inventory and Supplies Management:

  • Ensure an adequate stock of cleaning materials, sanitizers, and protective equipment, and reorder supplies as necessary.
  • Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely and according to industry regulations.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure that the standard of your personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning equipment is maintained and functioning correctly at all times.
  • Ensure production PPE, disposables, and chemicals are always available and replenished accordingly.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with quality control and production teams to identify areas for hygiene improvement.
  • Suggest and implement new cleaning technologies, methods, or procedures to enhance efficiency and safety.

Key Attributes:

  • Ability to commit to flexible working shift patterns as and when the job demands.
  • Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
  • Have a good understanding of health and safety requirements and adhere to them at all times.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and prioritise tasks.
