Job Title: Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced oncology nurse to join our team as a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills and gain experience in a clinical leadership role.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist the Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward. You will have the opportunity to gain insight into the ward manager role and be supported to develop the necessary skills and expertise to undertake the job.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Ward Manager in providing clinical and managerial leadership on the ward.
  • Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
  • Lead in a specific area of ward practice, making recommendations, coordinating projects, and developing practice guidelines and policies.
  • Deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse in their absence, demonstrating a sound problem-solving approach to clinical and management issues.
  • Regularly act as shift coordinator, participating in the allocation of resources, ensuring effective patient care and safety on the ward.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1, 8, 12, or 15 of the register depending on the area of practice).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC revalidation.
  • Minimum of 3 years' acute care registered nurse experience.
  • Evidence of achievement on a Nursing and Midwifery, (NMC) approved Mentorship qualification.
