Job Title: Commercial Property Surveyor

Job Summary:

The Canal & River Trust is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Property Surveyor to join our team. As a Commercial Property Surveyor, you will be responsible for implementing and managing rent reviews and lease renewals for our portfolio of commercial properties. You will work closely with our Regional Property Surveyors to identify new income opportunities and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate rent reviews and lease renewals to maximize income opportunities for the Trust.
  • Work with Regional Property Surveyors to identify and develop new income opportunities in existing business areas.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations to ensure the Trust is protected and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust's mandatory standards and policies.
  • Protect, promote, and develop the Trust's waterways and contribute to the Trust's aims to improve safety and increase the number of people using the waterways.
  • Display the Trust's values and behaviors at all times.
  • Integrate diversity and inclusion into all aspects of Trust life and promote inclusion by challenging behavior, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the Trust's policies and values.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in lease renewals and rent reviews.
  • Experience of general property/lease management.
  • Ability to provide accurate and concise professional advice and guidance.
  • Appropriate experience of working in complex operating environments and at multiple levels.
  • Understanding and experience of use of the laws relating to property, land, and environment.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Experience of creating Charities Act Valuations.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, surveying.
  • Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) with 2 years post-qualification, desirable.
