Job Title: Commercial Property Surveyor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Property Surveyor to join our team at the Canal & River Trust. As a Commercial Property Surveyor, you will be responsible for implementing and managing rent reviews and lease renewals across our portfolio, providing support and advice on general lease/property management issues, and liaising with tenants and colleagues to resolve ongoing concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate reviews and renewals of existing agreements to maximize additional income opportunities and represent best value to the Trust, in accordance with the Charities Act.
  • Work with Regional Surveyors to identify, promote, and develop new income opportunities in existing business areas.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant Law and Regulatory legislation to spot new areas of business into which the Trust may profitably venture, ensuring the Trust is protected using relevant statutory protective provisions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust's mandatory standards and policies.
  • Protect, promote, and develop the Trust's waterways, contributing to the Trust's aims to improve safety and increase the number of people using the waterways while protecting the heritage and integrity of the inland waterway network.
  • Display the Trust's values and behaviors at all times.
  • Integrate diversity and inclusion into all aspects of Trust life, promoting inclusion by challenging behavior, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust's policies and values.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in Lease Renewals and Rent Reviews.
  • Experience of general property/lease management.
  • Ability to provide accurate and concise professional advice and guidance.
  • Appropriate experience of working in complex operating environments and at multiple levels.
  • Understanding and experience of use of the laws relating to property, land, and environment.
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Experience of creating Charities Act Valuations.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, surveying.
  • Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) with 2 years post-qualification, desirable.
