A job description for a Shunter at Culina Group
At Culina Group, we are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Shunter to join our team. As a Shunter, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely movement of trailers, as well as performing various tasks to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- To place trailers in the required areas, following the instructions provided.
- To maintain effective communication with colleagues using two-way radios.
- To conduct regular safety checks, as designated by the company.
- To report any defects, accidents, or incidents to the relevant authorities.
- To ensure that refrigerated units are set at the correct temperature, in line with product requirements.
- To maintain adequate fuel levels in fridge diesel tanks.
- To demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with colleagues.
- To report any breaches in speed limits by drivers and sub-contractors to the transport department.
- To maintain a tidy and organized parking area, reporting any issues to the site services team.
- To ensure compliance with company standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
- To work safely and in line with Health & Safety legislation.
Qualifications:
- Working with and driving LGV's is desirable.
- Previous shunting experience is essential.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment is required.
- Teamworking and communication skills are essential.
- Driving for excellence and ability to work under pressure are necessary.
- Self-discipline and motivation are required.
