Job Overview

Polaris Community is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Casual Residential Child Care Worker to join our team in Carlisle. As a valued member, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care and support to young people aged 6-18.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team. A strong understanding of the issues facing young people in care is essential, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of our residents.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting daily routines, including personal hygiene, meals, and activities
  • Assisting with room cleans, life skills development, and promoting socialization
  • Attending medical appointments and supporting the plans outlined in activity planners
  • Completing day sheets, working with residents on their targets, and maintaining accurate records
  • Liaising with families, building relationships, and planning family time contacts

Requirements

  • Flexibility in availability for shift work, including sleep-in nights and varied start times
  • A commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for young people
  • An NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards additional qualifications if necessary
  • Experience working with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work is highly desirable
