Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Training Programme Director for Dental Core Training in Community Dental Services (CDS). This position is accountable to the Postgraduate Dental Dean via the Associate Dental Dean and plays a crucial part in the direction of CDS DCT training programmes across Yorkshire and the Humber.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant, SAS, SDO grade or University employee (lecturer or above) with a thorough understanding of postgraduate dental training programmes at this level. They will also possess strong leadership and communication skills, enabling them to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team committed to implementing the Dental Education Reform Programme.

Key responsibilities include induction into the training programmes, involvement in the RCP process, delivery of education, involvement in recruitment, managing and supporting trainees in difficulty, appointment, training, support and management of their Educational Supervisor team, attendance at DCT Board and Strategy Planning meetings, and innovating pathways towards the Dental Education Reform Programme.

Key Requirements

Holds a registration with the GDC
Primary dental healthcare qualification
Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
Currently working within the Community Dental Services within Yorkshire and the Humber
Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters
Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Committed to own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress
