Mencap is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to fill the role of Support Worker in Derry/Londonderry.
As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will work with a diverse group of people, each with their unique abilities and needs.
Key responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence. You will also be responsible for building meaningful relationships with the individuals you support.
Requirements
- Caring and patient individual with a genuine passion for supporting others.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
- Ability to support individuals with their finances, including paying bills and doing shopping.
- Reducing social isolation by supporting individuals to social groups and activities.
- Supporting with personal care, including prompting individuals to take medication and assisting with bathing and using the bathroom.
- Using Positive Behaviour Support Strategies to improve quality of life.
This role requires a full clean driving licence.
Contract Options
- 2 x Full-time various hours contract as part of a 4-week rolling rota.
Shift Times
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life.
- Days: 9.00am – 9.00pm
- Waking Nights: 9.00pm – 9.00am
All roles are subject to an enhanced disclosure check and registration with NISCC and suitable references.
