Public Health Data Analyst

As a Public Health Data Analyst with NHS England, you will play a crucial role in analysing health and care data to improve public health outcomes in the Midlands region. This involves working with diverse data sources, collaborating with partners, and developing a data-driven approach to population health improvement.
This Master's degree level apprenticeship is designed for early career professionals who are passionate about studying the health of populations, planning, commissioning, managing, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating health and social care policies and services. The apprenticeship provides a route to complete a Master's degree level HCIS apprenticeship and study the health of populations, plan, commission, manage, deliver, monitor, and evaluate health and social care policies and services.
The successful candidate will spend around 20% of their time studying and will be part of a cohort class of other apprentices for peer support. They will learn how to design studies in population health, public health, and epidemiology and lead on analytical projects that will improve implementation of services and inform evidence-based decision making and policy across health and social care.
The post holder will use their Public Health focus to support the Midlands region to access the right intelligence to underpin the work that they do and the decisions that they make. Additionally, it is expected that the successful candidate will support the adoption of a public health ethos into healthcare analysis: both within and across health and care organisations.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will conduct comprehensive data analysis to support/evaluate public health initiatives. They will also provide guidance to the team and support the use of best practice to ensure data analysis aligns with public health policies and regulations.
Knowledge and Experience- Demonstrate an understanding of datasets and data sources including the quality and reliability of the data.
- Experience of triangulating data from different sources and demonstrate an appreciation of the differences that might occur in large datasets.
- Able to build and document complicated and varied types of models including forecasting performance.
