Job Summary:

Telecon is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Civil Team as a Lineman. This is a field position that requires working outdoors in various conditions to install telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to Telecon's health and safety policy
  • Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunication cables
  • Climb poles, ladders and a variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatus
  • String cables between structures, manholes, from poles, towers, or trenches and ensure that all are to proper tension
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment
  • Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma
  • Valid Ontario driver's license with clean driving record – a driver's license with a Z endorsement will be required to operate Telecon line vehicles and operate a rubber tracked excavator
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
