Instrument Coordinator & CSSD Technician

Onewelbeck Surgery Centre is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Instrument Coordinator & CSSD Technician to join our team. As a key member of our theatre team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized central processing area, ensuring compliance with sterilization policies and procedures, and reprocessing instruments according to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area
  2. Ensures compliance with sterilization policies and procedures
  3. Reprocesses instruments according to industry standards
  4. Ensures only items designated for re-sterilization are processed
  5. Inspects instruments for damage and defects
  6. Ensures equipment and instrumentation are in good working condition
  7. Sorts and arranges items into proper trays
  8. Wraps trays and individual items according to manufacturer's instructions
  9. Accurately labels each item
  10. Operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer, and other processing equipment
  11. Performs and documents biological/chemical monitoring tests
  12. Responds to failed Air Removal Tests, Sterilisation cycles, and/or Biological, or Chemical indicators
  13. Transports contaminated instruments to decontamination room
  14. Maintains inventory levels and accurate records
  15. Checks for outdated items and package integrity
  16. Places items in correct location
  17. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies
  18. Maintains/updates instrument tray inventory list
  19. Accurately documents count of instruments loaned/returned
  20. Moves and handles trays and items of various weights and sizes
  21. Maintains accurate records and keeps documentation up to date
  22. Disposes of contaminated waste
  23. Reports and rectifies instrument faults
  24. Coordinates with nurses, materials, and/or relevant persons in loaning, borrowing, lending, and returning instruments and equipment
  25. Coordinates with theatre team to ensure adequacy of instrumentation
  26. Works as an active member of the theatre team and maintains good working relationships
  27. Attends required education/training
  28. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

  1. A minimum of 1 year experience in a theatre/CSSD setting
  2. Current BLS certification
  3. Experience in providing safe and effective intraoperative service in various specialties
