Technical Sales Engineer

East Midlands base (Commutable from Nottingham, Leicester and Coventry)

c£45k - £50k neg dep exp + benefits

Our client, a leading automation system solution provider in the UK, is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join their established business development team. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are looking for a highly self-motivated individual to maximise opportunities with both existing and new clients through the provision of automation and robotic solution sales.

As a Technical Sales Engineer working in an Automation and Robotics Sales environment, you will liaise extensively with both internal and external customers to develop and grow a realistic pipeline of business in an "Account Manager" capacity from primarily existing clients as well as new clients that will benefit from the portfolio of solutions available. You will handle any and all enquiries quickly and accurately to ensure project success and deliver your individual sales target.

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities that will include (but not be limited to):
  1. Attending Customer sites to nurture relationships and understand their current and future requirements, identifying and recommending enhancements, modifications or upgrades that will benefit their business and prove commercially advantageous to all.
  2. Creating and maintaining Sales Analysis Sheets for each enquiry received.
  3. Reporting enquiry results in the weekly Sales Meeting and providing visibility of future enquiries and potential market demands or competitor developments.
  4. Setting up Sales Handover meetings to transfer details of the order over to the technical team and supporting the project team and the Customer throughout the project life cycle when required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Technical Sales Engineer role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be based within a reasonable commute radius of Leicester or Nottingham and demonstrate previous technical sales and account management experience gained through working with automation systems, ideally within the automotive sector, although other engineering and manufacturing disciplines will be considered and will realistically be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant engineering or business-related discipline.

With a self-motivated and organised approach to making the best use of your time as well as a high level of commercial acumen, you will possess excellent communication skills at all levels and be flexible to travel both within the UK and overseas as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and grow a realistic pipeline of business in an "Account Manager" capacity from primarily existing clients as well as new clients that will benefit from the portfolio of solutions available.

Requirements:

  1. Previous technical sales and account management experience gained through working with automation systems, ideally within the automotive sector.
  2. Qualification to at least HND level or above in a relevant engineering or business-related discipline.
  3. Self-motivated and organised approach to making the best use of your time.
  4. High level of commercial acumen.
  5. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  6. Flexibility to travel both within the UK and overseas as required.
