As a Technical Chapter Head at National Grid plc, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of infrastructure engineering. This is a hybrid position based in Warwick, where you will lead and manage a collaborative team of infrastructure engineering professionals within our centralized IT organization.

About the Role

This position is critical for ensuring the optimal design, implementation, and operation of infrastructure engineering across cloud, data center, end-user, and data network domains. You will be responsible for defining expected practices and guardrails, integrating standards and frameworks from partners, and adapting practices to fit maturity levels and strategic objectives.

  • Define expected practices & guardrails and chapter member technical output based on industry best practices
  • Integrate standards and frameworks from partners in Enterprise Architecture, compliance and information security
  • Adapt practices to fit maturity level and strategic objectives

You will work closely with Platform Leaders and Owners to understand their specific capability and certification requirements. This includes mapping expected competencies & certifications against each role & level in the Chapter, designing career paths, and partnering with Learning and Development teams to design targeted training & certification curriculum.

In addition, you will track supply of and aggregate demand for Chapter resources, collaborate with executive leadership to ensure Chapter members are allocated to the most impactful Teams unlocking business value, and facilitate career moves across Chapters for career growth & cross-training.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading cross-functional infrastructure engineering teams, with a strong focus on cloud, data center, end-user, and data network domains. They will possess proven analytical skills and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data, as well as experience with resource planning and allocation within and across organizations.

A competitive salary between £85,000 – £105,000 (dependent on capability), plus a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance, and a competitive contributory pension scheme make this an attractive opportunity for a motivated professional looking to take their career to the next level.
