About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Air Conditioning Systems Engineer to join our Mechanical HVAQ Team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative HVAC solutions for next-generation nuclear submarines.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop functional engineering solutions that meet complex cross-functional interactions and requirements.
  2. Engage with suppliers to develop and capture equipment and component specifications that meet challenging demands.
  3. Work with customers to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios and design considerations.
  4. Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis to make design decisions and demonstrate system performance.
  5. Develop design evidence to justify safe and effective designs and generate customer confidence.
  6. Coordinate and manage stakeholders to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible decisions.

Requirements
  1. Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science Subjects, working towards Chartership.
  2. Experience with HVAC or Cooling Systems.
  3. Experience in design and development of Mechanical Systems, ideally within Defence or Marine Engineering sectors.
  4. Design documentation and presentation skills.
  5. Complex calculations and proficiency in CAD software, FEA, Matlab, Flomaster, and other relevant tools.
  6. Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
