About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity at West Northamptonshire Council for a qualified professional to join us as a Senior Finance Business Partner in the Accountancy Division.

The Accountancy Division is the technical business partner responsible for several key areas, including closure of accounts, IFRS accounting, fixed assets, and preparation of working papers. They ensure that the Statement of Accounts is produced in accordance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements, and deal with year-end audit queries. Moreover, they develop processes and procedures plans.

The Senior Finance Business Partner will lead on the development plan, fixed assets, and the integrity of the financial information system. This is a high-profile role that requires good management skills to ensure finance services are efficient and professional.

As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead and manage members of the Finance team, including Finance Business Partners and Assistant Finance Business Partners/Accountants. You will also be expected to operate in any of the Senior Finance Business Partner posts within the Finance Team. Reporting to the Strategic Finance Business Partner, you will manage one of our Technical Services teams and play a key role in developing our service and embedding good practice across the organisation in delivering our technical accounting services.

About You

You'll be CCAB Qualified, ensuring proper procedure and best practice are followed, and work closely with colleagues across the organisation, as well as working with councillors and auditors. Ongoing professional development will also be key to your success.

Key areas of responsibility include strategic and operational management, evaluating and advising on financial implications, and developing processes and procedures. You will also be expected to work closely with colleagues across the organisation, as well as working with councillors and auditors.
